In a letter sent to the membership on 12 November, IAMCR president, Janet Wasko, announced the opening of IAMCR's international secretariat in Montevideo, Uruguay and the appointment of Bruce Girard as Executive Director of the association.
IAMCR invites submissions of abstracts for papers and panel proposals for the 2015 IAMCR conference to be held from 12 -16 July, 2015 in Montreal, Canada. The overall theme of the conference is Hegemony or Resistance? The Ambiguous Power of Communication. The deadline to submit abstracts is 9 February 2015.
Wajiha Raza Rizvi, a PhD student at University of the Punjab in Pakistan received a travel grant to attend IAMCR 2014 in Hyderabad. Her paper on censorship of visual pleasure in Pakistani film was presented to the Gender & Communication Section. Wajiha says the experience left her with increased confidence.
