Call for proposals 2017

The editors of the IAMCR/Palgrave series Global Transformations in Media and Communication Research are currently receiving proposals for new books. Since 2014 the series has produced several diverse volumes that speak to a global audience and reflect IAMCR's intellectual capital. It is a forum for collective knowledge production and exchange through trans-disciplinary contributions.

Claudia Padovani and Marjan de Bruin, editors of the series, are excited to see the growing interest among IAMCR members to publish through this channel and invite others to submit new proposals covering their particular fields of interest.

The inspiring title of the 2017 IAMCR conference – Transforming Culture, Politics & Communication: New media, new territories, new discourses – has solicited engaging and forward looking papers and panel proposals. In addition, a number of pre-conferences will address themes that are crucial to understand current communication transformations and challenges.
As Section and Working Group heads finalise their programmes, and participants prepare to present their work, we invite you all to consider this opportunity, through our IAMCR/Palgrave connection, to propose (in particular but not exclusively) edited collections of quality papers.

Why work with the series?

Working with the series offers you an opportunity to get support in writing the initial book proposal and to enrich a series that reflects the different thematic components of our Association. The series addresses, and critically reflects on, issues of communication, politics and power and their interconnectedness with emerging discourses and seeks to redefine the traditional-definition of geographical, cultural and disciplinary boundaries.
Contributing to the Palgrave/ IAMCR series supports the series' mandate to disseminate and share the wealth of knowledge that flows through our conferences and our association, taking advantage of the cultural and disciplinary diversity of IAMCR members.

The IAMCR/Palgrave series in Cartagena

In Cartagena, the Palgrave booth will have an overview of the series’ publications and a leaflet featuring new titles to be published before the end of this year. The series editors will also be there and would be happy to talk with you about possible themes and approaches, to help you develop your ideas into fully elaborated proposals, ready for submission to Palgrave.
