The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the recent IAMCR Conference--Reimagining Sustainability: Communication and Media Research in a Changing World (IAMCR-Oregon 2018) would like to thank IAMCR for trusting the University of Oregon and the School of Journalism and Communication with the organization of this important international Conference. We feel proud to have been the first in bringing this Conference to the United States, and above all, to have done it at a moment when very troubling political tendencies against a more sustainable and just world are part of the current national discourse in the US. and other parts of the world. We believe that by allowing us to hold the conference in Eugene, IAMCR has taken a stance. We are thankful to all of our colleagues from around the world for their support and for showing up.
Reimagining Sustainability: Communication and Media Research in a Changing World (IAMCR-Oregon 2018) was a success thanks to all who collaborated with us in making this Conference possible. Hosted by the University of Oregon with the School of Journalism and Communication as the leading unit, we had a positive experience as organizers and trust that it was equally positive for those who attended. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) led by professors Gabriela Martínez (chair), Chris Chávez, and post-doctoral fellow Jeremy Swartz wishes the best to the organizers of the next IAMCR Conference—Communication, Technology and Human dignity: Disputed Rights, Contested Truths ( Madrid 2019).
Looking forward to seeing you all there and continue with our global scholarly engagement!
