IAMCR Galway 2026 offers opportunities for IAMCR members and partners to organise conferences, seminars, and workshops in the days immediately before or after the main IAMCR conference. Pre- and post-conference events may run from a half day to two full days and can take place in or near Galway, or in locations that are a natural stopping-off point for international travellers (for example, Dublin). The events aim to make efficient use of resources, including participant travel and the availability of speakers, for the benefit of both the main IAMCR conference and the pre- or post-conference event.
Pre- and post-conference events may be organised by individual or institutional IAMCR members, alone or in partnership with other organisations. Approved events will be featured on the IAMCR 2026 website, social media channels, and in newsletters. Organisers are expected to highlight their association with IAMCR 2026 in all communications and to encourage participants and speakers to attend the main conference.
IAMCR and pre- and post-conference organisers are encouraged to explore possibilities for cooperation with the main conference, for example by:
- Reporting back to the main conference (e.g. a panel, roundtable, or summary session)
- Collaborating on costs of invited speakers
- Developing joint publications or follow-up activities
Event organisers should submit a formal application for consideration by the Conference Organising Committee (COC), composed of members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and IAMCR’s Executive Board.
Securing a Venue
The Local Organising Committee has arranged some venues, both at the University of Galway and, for groups that would prefer to hold their event in Dublin, at Dublin City University (DCU). They are exploring additional options in other Irish cities. For information on venues and costs contact iamcr2026@abbey.ie.
Fees
Event organisers may charge a reasonable registration fee to cover costs. If a fee is charged, IAMCR members are expected to be eligible for a discounted rate.
Please note that IAMCR is not able to provide support for registration management, collection of fees, or colllection of abstracts, etc..
How To Apply
If you wish to organise a pre- or post-conference event, please complete the application form. Two application periods are open, with the following deadlines: 6 January 2026 and 6 February 2026. Decisions will normally be made within 2–3 weeks after each deadline.
We strongly recommend that you submit your application as early as possible. Please note that opportunities are limited and there may be no space remaining by February 2026.
