Welcome from the LOC Chair

Professor Jack Qiu
Chair of the Singapore 2025 Local Organising Committee

Dear IAMCR colleagues, students, and friends,

Greetings from Singapore!

On behalf of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University, I am delighted to extend my sincere invitation to you all to join us for next year’s IAMCR conference, taking place from 13-17 July 2025 in Singapore!

Hosting IAMCR 2025 is a tremendous honour for our school, as it brings back cherished memories of the first IAMCR we hosted in the year 2000. As we prepare for next year’s conference, we are reminded of how much has transformed in the past quarter-century — not just in the realm of media and communication research, but across our entire planet, which is now grappling with the pressing challenge of climate change.

The theme for next year's IAMCR will be: “Communicating Environmental Justice: Many Voices, One Planet.”

This theme resonates with global efforts to harness the power of media and communication for sustainable development and to "green" the media industries, including sectors such as big data and AI. These efforts are evident worldwide, and Singapore is no exception. Here, innovative collaborations between academics, practitioners, public and private sectors are paving the way toward achieving sustainability and environmental justice.

In this context, we take great pride in highlighting that our NTU campus is home to Singapore's largest cluster of net-zero emission buildings. The main activities of IAMCR 2025 will take place on this vibrant and green campus, which we are excited for you to experience.

Once again, welcome to Singapore, the Lion City!

We look forward to greeting you at IAMCR 2025 and welcoming you to the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, NTU Singapore!
