Envisioning and developing a feminist agenda
An IAMCR post-conference

Based on a multidisciplinary, multisectorial and multi-national feminist dialogue, the purpose of this IAMCR post-conference is to explore those questions from multiple perspectives - including information literacy, gender power dynamics, violence against women and regulation, among others, and proposing a feminist agenda to eliminate gender gaps in AI and emerging technologies.
The event reflects the shared concerns and willingness to collaborate, amongst different realities and networks, within and outside academia, in making feminist pedagogies, methodologies and educational practices a strategic pillar in forthcoming change-making initiatives for women’s communication rights in the IA ecosystem.
This post conference (conducted in hybrid form: in presence and online) will comprise keynote speakers, a networking panel, and an interactive session, placing specific emphasis on identifying priorities for collaboration between research, education, policy and advocacy towards the design, articulation and implementation of a feminist agenda on Artificial Intelligence and Gender Equality.
The event is jointly organised by the IAMCR Task Force for GAMAG and the UNESCO UniTWIN on Gender Media and ICT, in collaboration with the IAMCR Gender and Communication Section, and the Advancing Gender Equality in Media Industries (AGEMI) project.
The aim of the event is threefold:
- to provide a space for researchers and academics, as well as other interested actors, to network initiatives that support transformative practises for change (educational, dissemination, research, advocacy, lobby);
- to contribute to the development of cross-sectorial strategies in Artificial Intelligence and Gender Equality;
- to carry forward reflections initiated in the context of the IAMCR on epistemologies and methodologies for gender-sensitive research in IA and create conditions for further collaborations in bridging research and education.
