ECA-USP Welcomes IAMCR 2027
It is with great enthusiasm that the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (ECA-USP) opens its doors to welcome the global academic community to the Congress of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR 2027).
This edition marks the Association’s 70th anniversary and the return to Brazil, after more than two decades, of the leading international forum for research in the field. Welcoming researchers from all continents to São Paulo provides us with an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and scientific knowledge production from the perspective of Latin America and the Global South, connecting our challenges and knowledge to major international debates.
Under the theme Multilateralism, Democracy, Diversity: Communication for a More Just World, the congress creates space for urgent academic debates on digital sovereignty, cultural diversity, and efforts to confront algorithmic colonialism and disinformation.
As Latin America’s leading university, the University of São Paulo combines excellence in teaching and research with a commitment to sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At ECA, this gathering takes on a special dimension by bringing together reflections from the field of Communication with the sensibility and creative dynamism of the Arts.
This initiative is part of ECA’s ongoing internationalization efforts. ECA stands out as one of the units with the largest number of international agreements across the University of São Paulo. Our goal is to expand long-lasting collaborative partnerships, foster the mobility of faculty members and students, and strengthen long-term interinstitutional ties, promoting scientific exchange in all its diversity.
