How to write good abstracts and constructively review for Early Career Scholars

This webinar aims to support people who might be submitting to and reviewing for the IAMCR annual conference for the first time. It provides an introduction to IAMCR, the submission and review process, guides to what makes an effective abstract and a good, constructive review, and direction to useful resources.

It also seeks to:

  • familiarise the audience with IAMCR and MER & ESN sections and their key interests and values, 
  • identify resources available to support participants for submission and review processes, and
  • discuss the nature of good abstracts and reviews to set expectations for the upcoming annual conference.

Speakers

Steph Hill, PhD, is lecturer, University of Leicester, UK. She is co-chair of Emerging Scholars Network and chair of Spinning Climate Change Working Group, Climate Social Science Network.

Devina Sarwatay, PhD, is Presidential Fellow at City, University of London. She is part of leadership at IAMCR, ICA, and Media Education Lab.

Location: The meeting will take place on Zoom. Pre-registered participants will receive personal invitations 24 hours before the webinar begins.

Who can participate: This free webinar is aimed at masters (research) students, doctoral students and candidates, early career researchers, and anyone submitting to or reviewing for an IAMCR conference for the first time. The number of participants is limited and pre-registration is available for IAMCR members.
