Masduki is a full professor in media and journalism at the Department of Communication, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta, INDONESIA. He earned his doctoral degree at the Institute of Communication Studies and Media Research (IfKW), University of Munich, Germany (graduated in 2019). Masduki has a particular interest in media policy, comparative media systems, journalism, and digital activism. His PhD dissertation was published as a book entitled: Public Service Broadcasting and Post-Authoritarian Indonesia (Palgrave McMillan, Springer Nature, London, 2020). Aside from that, he has published several books on the Indonesian media system, and his articles have appeared in scholarly journals such as International Communication Gazette, Media Asia, International Journal of Communication, Asian Journal of Communication, Journalism Studies, Journal of Media History, Journal of Digital Media and Policy, etc.
