An online Extraordinary General Assembly will be held on Monday 9 February 2026 at 13:00 UTC (verify the time in your local area), in accordance with Article 5, Sections 5.7 and 5.8 of IAMCR’s Statutes.
The sole item on the agenda is the approval of three amendments to the IAMCR Statutes.
Additionally we will will provide a brief update on planning and preparations for our upcoming conference in Galway.
The amendments made to the statutes in 2022 introduced a President-Elect position that has created governance and operational difficulties. It separates the presidential election from the election of the rest of the Executive Board, creates ambiguities around the role and authority of a non-voting President-Elect, and complicates succession planning. Returning to a single, synchronised election cycle, with all members of the Executive Board elected at the same time, restores clarity and aligns with IAMCR's established practice.
The first two amendments simply revert the relevant sections to what they were prior to the creation of the President-Elect position in 2022. The third deletes the "Transition Rules" in the Appendix, which referred specifically to the transition from the 2022 to the 2024 versions of the statutes. As the 2024 statutes would now be superseded by this proposed amendment, they are no longer relevant or applicable.
Proposed Amendments
1. Strike Article 7, Section 7.1, Clause c
Current wording of S7.1:

c) if an incumbent President is not running again or has not been re-elected, the new President-Elect of the Association as non-voting member for two years after her/his election until she/he takes office as President.
2. Amend Article 8, Section 8.2 as follows
