An IAMCR pre-conference event

Description: The pre-conference brings together a number of scholars and advocates that have been involved in many initiatives to promote gender equality in and through the media and ICT since 2015, including: the 2015 edition of the Global Media Monitoring project; a UNESCO-promoted Global Alliance for Media and Gender (GAMAG) and related IAMCR Task Force; the UNESCO UniTWIN Network on Gender, Media and ICT; the Advancing Gender Equality in Media Industries (AGEMI) EU-funded project; and the Comparing Gender and Media Equality across the Globe (GEM) project.
The event has a twofold goal: to discuss what has been accomplished and still needs to be achieved, explored and transformed to foster media gender equality in a digitally transformed environment; and to elaborate a joint statement on updating and actualizinng ‘Section J’ of the Beijing Platform for Action (on gender and media) in view of informing the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and related Sustainable Development Goals.
The pre-conference is organized in 2 parts:
- 3 morning sessions offer an opportunity to discuss gender equality in and through the media and ICT in relation to aspects of education, research and advocacy;
- an afternoon workshop to finalize the statement to update and actualize ‘Section J’ (based on preparatory work conducted prior to the IAMCR meeting).

Participation and registration: Participation will be open to all interested people, IAMCR members as well as the general public, particularly professional organizations from Spain and Europe. The venue is open and accessible. No fee is required, but please signal your intention to participate to claudia.padovani@unipd.it.
Event's language: working language is English. Informal translation will be arranged for Spanish speaking participants.
