Professor Dr. Katharine Sarikakis is the Chair of Media Governance at the University of Vienna and Head of the Media Governance and Industries Research Lab. She is also the holder of the Jean Monnet Chair of European Media Governance and Integration until 2019. Her career trajectory includes twenty years of research and tenured positions in the UK, the latest of which was at the University of Leeds, heading the Centre for International Communication Research. She has served as elected officer at the major European and International communication associations of ECREA, IAMCR and ICA; she was the youngest ever elected Vice President of IAMCR (2000-2004), established the Communication Law and Policy Section of ECREA and served as elected Executive Board member; currently she is the Chair of the Communication Law and Policy Division of the ICA.
