2,300 abstracts for IAMCR 2017

Proposals were received from 92 countries

The 31 thematic sections and working groups of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) received more than 2,300 abstracts for the 2017 conference that will take place in Cartagena, Colombia from July 16-20.

The abstracts, for both panel and individual paper presentations, were submitted by more than 3,000 authors in 92 different countries. Of the ten countries that submitted the most abstracts 3 are in Latin America (Brazil, Colombia and Mexico), 3 in Europe (Spain, the UK and Germany), 2 in Asia (China and India), plus the United States and Australia.

The five sections that received the most abstracts were Community Communication and Alternative Media, Journalism, Research and Education, Participatory Communication Research, Gender and Communication and Political Economy.

The submissions are being reviewed this week to eliminate any possible duplicates or ineligible abstracts and the heads of the sections and working groups will begin the peer review process next week. The deadline for sections and working groups to inform authors of decisions is 3 April.
