IAMCR participated in a special issue of the Journal of Latin American Communication Research (JLACR) about international academic cooperation and dialogue.
Inspired by a series of roundtables organised by the Latin American and European communication research associations, ALAIC and ECREA, the special issue, “Communication and media studies: The regional dialogue”, includes contributions by César Ricardo Bolaño, Nico Carpentier, Ulla Carlsson, Katherine Reilly, Silvio Waisbord and Aimée Vega Montiel as well as an interview with Eliseo Colon Zayas conducted by guest editor Fernando Oliveira Paulino. The authors are members of international and regional communication research associations: ECREA, the European Communication Research and Education Association, NORDICOM (Nordic Information Centre for Media and Communication Research), IAMCR (International Association for Media and Communication Research), ICA (International Communication Association), and ALAIC, (Latin American Communications Researchers Association).
Contributions to this special issue touch on themes as diverse as Latin American communication thought in the 21st century; trends in theories and methodologies; major problems faced by Latin American researchers; the need to promote more cooperation among scholars worldwide; the North-South dialogue; and differences and similarities between Latin American and European scholars.
Edited by Heloiza G. Herscovitz, JLACR is a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary open access online scholarly journal published twice a year by ALAIC since 2012.
