Hegemony or Resistance? On the Ambiguous Power of Communication is the theme chosen for the 2015 edition of the annual conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research hosted by Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). The Call for proposals is now online. For more information, visit the IAMCR 2015 CFP section. Abstract submission is open until 9 February 2015 through the Open Conference System (OCS).

Many social and cultural activities are planned during the conference. The opening conference and ceremony will take place at the distinguished Palais des congrès de Montréal. A Music and Dancing evening in the UQAM Sanguinet Garden will be organised on July 15th, 2014. An optional Gala Dinner is scheduled to take place on July 14th, 2015 aboard the AML Cavalier Maxim. The cruise is a unique opportunity to access exclusive views over the city during the night out on the St. Lawrence River. Tickets can be purchased at an additional price during registration in January.

The IAMCR Law Section and Ethics Working Group are co-sponsoring an IAMCR preconference, Media and Journalists in the Age of Open Government and Transparency, in association with the 2015 conference in Montreal on July 11th, 2015. The Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la communication, l’information et la société (CRICIS) is also organising the PANAM 2015 conference as post-conference of IAMCR 2015 for July 16-17. The conference theme is Governance and Public Service Media in Knowledge Societies.
