Statement

With a profound passion for media research and a commitment to advancing the field, I ( Prof. ( Dr.) Surbhi Dahiya) am writing to express my strong desire to become a member of the International Council of IAMCR. Recognizing the transformative power of media, I have dedicated my academic and professional pursuits to understanding its nuances and impact on various aspects of society. I believe that my background, skills, and aspirations align seamlessly with the goals and objectives of IAMCR. Having a dual Masters degrees in Mass Communication and Business administration, and PhD I have gained a solid theoretical foundation in media studies. Moreover, my professional experience has provided me with practical insights into the challenges and opportunities within the media landscape.

As a committed advocate for rigorous research and innovation, I have actively engaged in writing niche books on media Industry from India. I am the author of Indian Media Giants ( OUP) , Digital First: Entrepreneurial Journalism in India ( OUP), handbook of Digital Journalism ( Springer, Singapore), Beat Reporting and editing ( SAGE) etc. These experiences have not only honed my analytical and critical thinking skills but have also fostered a deep appreciation for the intersectionality of media and its profound impact on society.

Dr Surbhi Dahiya is serving as the Faculty Ambassador India. In this role, she has been conducting several high visibility panel discussions. When the pandemic struck, she was able to engage more scholars virtually and get these networks strengthened and connected.
