The International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) is a non-profit academic association with 3,200 members across 90 countries. IAMCR provides a global forum for academic researchers and practitioners in media and communication. We aim to encourage, strengthen, and improve research in the field through various initiatives, including our annual scientific conference, which attracts between 1,200 and 2,000 participants.
Position overview
IAMCR is seeking a motivated and well-organised individual to join our virtual team as a Membership Services Coordinator. This role involves working closely with the executive director and deputy director to develop and implement a wide variety of activities related to membership renewal, recruitment, support, and communication.

Key Responsibilities
- Responding to email queries regarding the association and its activities;
- Compiling and organising documentation;
- Drafting correspondence, including official letters, emails, and announcements;
- Managing and updating contact and membership databases;
- Providing online support to members and conference participants;
- Assisting with data analysis and report preparation;
- Drafting articles for the association’s website and newsletter;
- Publishing website and social media content and preparing occasional email newsletters;
- Developing and implementing new member services;
- Assisting in the preparation and execution of an annual membership renewal campaign;
- Handling minor IT issues and coordinating with IT support.
Qualifications
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with advanced written and spoken English. Knowledge of Spanish and/or French is an asset.
- Technical Skills: Experience with Drupal or a similar content management system. Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software is an asset.
- Academic Environment: Experience in an academic setting is an asset.
- Mindset: Proactive and adaptable, eager to learn and adopt new technologies and procedures.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a strong focus on detail.
- Customer Service: Excellent support and customer service skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
- Commitment: Willingness to commit to at least two annual cycles (i.e., beginning now and continuing at least until August 2026).
This is a half-time (on average) contract (the intensity of work varies depending on specific activities, with certain periods more demanding than others). Short-listed candidates will receive more specific information on request.
