
An IAMCR pre-conference
Description
The Communication Policy & Technology (CP&T) Section of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025 with a special pre-conference event. As one of the oldest and largest sections of IAMCR, CPT aims to commemorate the evolution of communication policy research, enhance participation, and foster collaboration among members. This event brings together scholars and policy practitioners from diverse region and different generations to deliberate on the past, the present, and the future of communication policy and technology.

Participation and registration
Participation takes two forms: presenters and non-presenting audiences. Both require registrations.
For presenters, please send an email to civictechlabnus@gmail.com with the following information by 15 March, 2025:
- 300 word abstract (references excluded).
- A short bio of each author (100 words).
- Indicate if you are an IAMCR member (or if you plan to join).
Selected submissions will be invited to contribute to a journal special issue.
Women and emerging scholars are particularly encouraged to submit to the preconference.
For audience, a registration link will be provided here if there is space left. First come first served.
Convenor
Professor Weiyu Zhang is Director of the Civic Tech Lab (www.civictechlab.org), currently located at the Department of Communications and New Media, National University of Singapore. Her research focuses on civic engagement and Information and Communication Technologies, with an emphasis on Asia. She has led on multi-nation projects on youth engagement, online deliberation, and civic tech in Asia. Her current interest is to develop and examine civic tech applications to facilitate citizen deliberation on science topics such as Covid-19 vaccines, climate change, gene-editing, and novel food.
