Statement

It is with great enthusiasm that I express my desire to continue serving as a member of the International Council.

Over the past four years, I have actively contributed to expanding IAMCR's influence in Asia. Notably, I spearheaded the 2022 IAMCR Beijing Conference as the LOC Chair, a role that significantly increased Asian membership.

I am deeply committed to integrating Asian communication studies into the IAMCR academic community. With a background as a Professor and former Executive Dean at the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, China, I bring extensive experience to this endeavor. Additionally, as Editor-in-Chief of the Global Journal of Media Studies, my professional expertise aligns with IAMCR's goals.

I have authored over 10 books and 200 academic articles, focusing on media ethics, media history, and social change. In leadership roles such as President of the Asia-Pacific Communication Alliance (APCA) and participation in the UNESCO-IFAP Working Group, I have demonstrated my dedication to advancing communication scholarship globally.

Having previously served as the President of the Chinese Association of Journalism & Communication, leading its transformation into a public academic platform, I trust that my expertise and commitment will continue to effectively serve IAMCR.

It is a great pleasure to endorse the candidature of Professor Chen for the International Council of the IAMCR. I have known Professor Chen for many years and had the privilege to see her at her own academic turf when she was the Executive Dean at Tsinghua University. She has a long commitment to the IAMCR, notably hosting the 2022 annual conference in Beijing where she was kind enough to invite me as a keynote speaker. I strongly support her.
