Statement

Having professional experience of two decades in academics, research, and Industry, I hereby seek IAMCR 2024 election as Member of the International Council. I am currently serving as Pakistan Ambassador for IAMCR, and an Assistant Professor at Fatima Jinnah Women University, with skills in Media Communication Research, Inclusion Consultancy, and founding a global disability-focused working group at IAMCR. I am volunteering for the Disability Task Force and Popular Culture group at IAMCR. Global teamwork experience prepared me to deliver professional work responsibly.

My academic credentials include high distinctions in ICTs and Media Studies, which align with my diverse interests in Climate change, Science journalism, Digital Divide, and Cultural communication through heritage. Dedicated to community engagement and active citizenship, I deliver projects like Visual Support Accessible Center, empowering people with disabilities, fostering social and behavioral change. My successful career as a Regulatory Analyst and Online Communication Manager at global multinational organizations, coupled with my role as a Mental Health Advisor and contributions to projects like Public Health Improvement among Pakistani Women with University of Manitoba, Canada, showcases versatility and proficiency.

I pledge to utilize my work passion, extensive experience, visionary leadership, and commitment to promote inclusivity and sustainability with your vote.

I hereby propose the nomination of Shahla Adnan, Assistant Professor of Fatima Jinnah Women’s University, Pakistan to IAMCR’s International Council.
Professor Adnan has a remarkable professional career in the corporate section and is currently passionately engaged in research and impact close to the core interests of IAMCR in terms of enhancing equity and inclusion and sustainability with projects supporting people with disabilities,  climate change and women’s health and communication. Professor Adnan also has wonderful leadership skills that I have experienced working with her to established the new Working Group for People with disabilities and inclusive communication. She is an effective and inclusive collaborator and very efficient and industrious in a leadership role. She is also the Pakistan ambassador for IAMCR.
Having someone of her calibre who is also female and from the Global South in the International Council would be an asset to the Association.

Professor Shahla Adnan has over 20 years of professional experience in academic, research and industrial fields, and hereby submits her candidature for the 2024 IAMCR International Council election. Professor Shahla Adnan is currently the Ambassador of Pakistan to the IAMCR to IAMCR and Assistant Professor at Fatima Jinnah Women's University. She has skills in media communication research, inclusive consultancy and has She has established a global working group focusing on disability issues at IAMCR.

Professor Shahla Adnan is a volunteer for IAMCR's Disability Working Group and Popular Culture Group, with some experience in global teamwork and the ability to carry out professional work responsibly. Professor Shahla Adnan has an excellent record in ICT and media research and has conducted research in areas such as climate change, science journalism, digital divide and cultural heritage protection and dissemination. Professor Shahla Adnan is committed to community participation and active citizenship, providing visual support for projects such as accessibility, empowering people with disabilities, and promoting social change. She has also had a successful career as a regulatory analyst and online communications manager in multinational organizations around the world, and has made outstanding contributions to projects such as improving the public health of Pakistani women at the University of Manitoba in Canada.
