Statement

I have been serving IAMCR since July 2016 as the section head of IAMCR’s Journalism Research & Education Section.

Among the nominated EB contestants, if elected, I would focus to build a network of diverse and inclusive research community that can contribute towards the research and innovation, and foster knowledge exchange. I need your support to encourage me to contribute my abovementioned role in IAMCR.

I take this opportunity to introduce myself through the bio below:

Dr. Sadia Jamil is an Assistant Professor and Director of Research at the School of International Communications, The University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China. She earned a PhD in Journalism (University of Queensland, Australia), a Master of Science in Media Management (University of Stirling, Scotland), and a M.A. in Mass Communication (University of Karachi).

Dr. Jamil is the Country Representative UAE and China of Asian Media Information & Communication Centre (AMIC), and she is currently Chair of the Journalism Research and Education Section of the International Association of Media & Communication Research (IAMCR). Dr. Jamil is also the co-editor of the prestigious IAMCR and Palgrave book series, the 'Global Transformations in Media and Communication Book Series'.

I have known Dr. Jamil for more than one decades. We knew each other since we were both shared concerned of media and journalism issues in Global South and we met several times at IAMCR conferences and others. Since then, we continued communicating and collaborating in media and journalism research and publication.
I see outstanding academic achievement of Sadia Jamil during the last five years (publication, engagement with IAMCR as chair of journalism research education section, and her other academic ties). The overall dedication of Jamil to support IAMCR and scholars who are interested in media and journalism education indicated her high capability to be and will be influential and stronger if she elected as vice President of IAMCR.
