Bahruz Samadov, a PhD student at Charles University and IAMCR member, has been detained in Azerbaijan on charges of 'high treason.' Amnesty International and others have raised concerns. His PhD consultant, Nico Carpentier, encourages IAMCR members to sign the petition for his release.

By Chikezie E. Uzuegbunam, Children and Young People’s Digital Lifeworlds is the 22nd title in the Palgrave/IAMCR book series Global Transformations in Media and Communication Research. The book explores the ways in which adolescents in Nigeria domesticate technology and the role of digital gatekeepers such as parents, guardians, and teachers in their digital lifeworlds.

Speakers included Francesca Musiani (French National Centre for Scientific Research) on open access, Sumit Narula (Amity University) on predatory journals, and Lei Guo (Fudan University) on artificial intelligence. IAMCR will host a special session at the annual conference of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The panel titled "The future of communication: New and old actors" will be held on 25 September at 11h30. IAMCR members attending the ECREA conference are cordially invited to join us at this special session.

The Department of Communications of Universitas Islam Indonesia has organised the seventh Indonesian Conference on Communication, Culture and Media Studies (CCCMS) in collaboration with Masduki, IAMCR’s ambassador in Indonesia. The conference will run from 27-29 August in Yogyacarta.
