Based in Quito, Ecuador, CIESPAL, the International Center for Higher Communication Studies for Latin America, has played an important role in journalism education in Ecuador and Latin America and a leading role in communication debates in the region and globally.

In this article, Dr Gladkova talks about her activities and experiences as an IAMCR ambassador, and she shares some thoughts and experiences about the Nairobi 2021 Conference. 

Volume 9, Number 1 of The Political Economy of Communication is now available. The peer-reviewed and open access journal is published under the auspices of the IAMCR Political Economy Section. Submissions for Volume 9.2 and 10.1 in 2022 are now being received.

IAMCR has organised six webinars since the launch of its Webinar Series in March 2021. In this article, Dr. Andrea Medrado, IAMCR vice president and coordinator of the IAMCR webinar series, talks about the experience of organising the webinars and the importance of opening channels for engagement and participation in addition to the association’s annual conference.

The Participatory Communication Research Section issued its October newsletter, including information about the upcoming webinar “The evolution of popular communication”, and an overview of the section's participation in IAMCR 2021.
