With only a few days to go, this message, with last-minute tips for travel to Cartagena and preparations for IAMCR 2017, was sent to all registered participants of IAMCR 2017 on Wednesday 12 July. Se envió tambien en español.
Arriving in Cartagena
From the airport in Cartagena it is easy, inexpensive and safe to take an official taxi. Follow the signs from the arrival hall to the official taxi stand. Tell them where you are going and they will give you a paper with the price on it. To the centre of the city it costs 13,300 Colombian pesos (COP), which is about 5 USD (approximate exchange rate 1 USD = 2750 COP - 1 EURO = 3200 COP). To the beach hotels it will cost a little more. The fare must be paid to the driver in cash Colombian pesos. There is a bank machine at the airport, but you are advised to bring some cash USD or EURO to change at the airport to pay the fare.
Registration
On-site registration begins at the Cartagena Convention Centre at 14:00 on Sunday 16 July. If you have already registered and paid, you should have received an email with the subject "Important: your IAMCR code for Check-in (Importante: Su código IAMCR para registro)". This email includes a QR code that will speed up the registration process. Please print it or be ready to display it on your smartphone when you register on-site. If you arrive after Sunday, you will be able to register and receive your badge throughout the week.
IAMCR 2017 programme
The programme for IAMCR 2017 is now online at http://cartagena2017.iamcr.org/programme/. From that page you can:
- Download the entire programme as a PDF file
- Install the app for Android devices, iPhone or iPad
- Consult the programme online from your laptop or desktop
With the app and online versions you can create an account to build your personal calendar (useful to help you navigate the 1,400 papers being presented in 331 sessions) and create your profile.
Even if you choose to use the app, you will want to download and browse through the PDF version of the entire programme, such as the practical information on pages 26-30. Below is the table of contents for the programme's 194 pages.

Want English-Spanish interpretation? Bring your passport
Simultaneous Spanish-English interpretation will be provided for plenary sessions and major panels. You will have to leave your passport as a deposit when you pick up the headphones and receiver. If you want to use the interpretation service, remember to have your passport with you at all times.

A escasos días del inicio del congreso de IAMCR 2017, este mensaje fue enviado a los participantes de IAMCR 2017 con algunas recomendaciones de última hora para sus preparativos de viaje a Cartagena.
Llegada a Cartagena
Desde el aeropuerto de Cartagena es muy sencillo, seguro y barato tomar un taxi oficial. Para llegar al puesto de taxis oficial, siga las indicaciones que encontrará en la sala de arribos. Dígale al encargado de lostaxista a dónde se dirige y éste le indicará el precio del viaje. Un taxi hasta el centro de la ciudad cuesta aproximadamente 13.300 pesos colombianos (COP), es decir, aproximadamente 5 dólares americanos (USD). La tasa de cambio aproximada es 1 USD = 2750 COP - 1 EURO = 3200 COP. El viaje a los hoteles costeros puede salir un poco más. El viaje en taxi debe pagarse al conductor en pesos colombianos en efectivo. En el aeropuerto hay un cajero automático (ATM), pero le aconsejamos que traiga algo de dinero en efectivo (USD o EURO) y lo cambie en el aeropuerto.
Registro
El registro abre a las 14:00 del domingo 16 de julio en la sede del congreso, el Centro de Convenciones de Cartagena. Si ya se inscribió y completó el pago, debería haber recibido un correo electrónico con asunto: "Important: your IAMCR code for Check-in (Importante: Su código IAMCR para registro)". El mensaje incluye un código QR que permitirá agilizar el proceso de registro. Por favor, imprima el mensaje o téngalo listo en su smartphone cuando vaya a registrarse. Si llega después del domingo, podrá registrarse y obtener su identificación en el correr de la semana.

¿Desea interpretación simultánea inglés-español? Lleve consigo su pasaporte
En las sesiones plenarias y paneles principales será posible acceder a la traducción simultánea inglés-español. Se le solicitará que entregue su pasaporte como garantía cuando vaya a recoger el receptor y los auriculares. Si desea usar este servicio, no olvide llevar siempre consigo su pasaporte.
