1/ IAMCR 2021 PCR Keynote Session
The Participatory Research Section of the IAMCR is pleased to announce the Keynote session for the IAMCR 2021. This year’s session is titled "Participatory Communication Research in Africa: a round keynote talk". Speakers present the contributions of African studies to the Participatory Communication Research field and share their views and experiences.

3/ Piyu Gong published IAMCR President interview in Chinese Journal
PCR Vice-Chair Piyu Gong’s interview with Nico Carpentier (IAMCR President) has been published in the latest issue of Global Journal of Media Studies which is sponsored by Tsinghua University of China. Piyu was assisted by fellow scholars Yiming Chen and Jinsheng Zhang as co-interviewers.
In this interview, Professor Nico Carpentier introduced the history, purpose and future development direction of IAMCR. He emphasized that as a global and critical academic organization, IAMCR advocates inclusiveness, understanding and diversity. He also commented on the interdisciplinary phenomenon of communication research and advocated embracing the interdisciplinary characteristics of communication research from the perspective of post-discipline. In addition, he analysed the impact of the COVID-19 on human communication and academic exchange and looked forward to the 2022 Beijing annual meeting of the IAMCR, believing that this is a good opportunity for academic exchanges between Chinese and foreign scholars.

4/ Publication of Doctoral thesis by PCR member
Siddharth Chadha who is a PCR member and former Secretary of the section has successfully defended his PhD thesis at Uppsala University, Sweden, on “Curating Precarity: Swedish Queer Film Festivals as Micro-Activism”.

5/ PCR Member Publication – Ana Cristina Suzina
Ana Cristina Suzina, member of the PCR Section, has published and edited the book “The Evolution of Popular Communication in Latin America”.
This book is part of the series Palgrave Macmillan Studies in Communication for Social Change. It brings together twelve contributions that trace the empirical-conceptual evolution of Popular Communication, associating it mainly with the context of inequalities in Latin America and with the creative and collective appropriation of communication and knowledge technologies as a strategy of resistance and hope for marginalized social groups.

6/ Dorismilda Flores-Márquez appointed as the President of AMIC - Mexican Association of Communication Researchers
PCR Section is very pleased to announce that Dorismilda Flores-Márquez (co-chair) has been appointed as President of AMIC (Mexican Association of Communication Researchers) for the 2021-2023 term. Among the plans of the Executive Committee that she leads are to sustain and strengthen ties with IAMCR.

3/ Piyu Gong publicó entrevista con el presidente de IAMCR en un journal chino
La entrevista con Nico Carpentier, presidente de IAMCR, realizada por Piyu Gong, vice-coordinador de la Sección de Investigación en Comunicación Participativa, fue publicada en el número más reciente del Global Journal of Media Studies, de la Tsinghua University en China. Piyu fue apoyado por los colegas Yiming Chen y Jinsheng Zhang como co-entrevistadores.
En su entrevista, el profesor Nico Carpentier presentó la historia, propósito y desarrollo futuro de la IAMCR. Él enfatizó que, como una organización académica global y crítica, la IAMCR aboga por la inclusión, la comprensión y la diversidad. También habló sobre el fenómeno interdisciplinario de la investigación en comunicación y abogó por abrazar las características interdisciplinarias de la investigación en comunicación desde la perspectiva post-disciplinaria. Además, analizó el impacto de la COVID-19 en la comunicación humana y el intercambio académico y señaló que la conferencia anual de la IAMCR será en Beijing en 2022, considerando que esta es una buena oportunidad para el intercambio académico entre investigadores chinos y extranjeros.
