Organisational Communication Working Group

org logoThe Organizational Communication Working Group seeks to contribute to the theoretical and practical understanding of the place, purpose, manifestations and implications of communication within and across organizational borders, from critical, structural and strategic perspectives. A critical approach to organizational communication encourages the debate about democracy, organizations, power and public opinion in a mediatized and networked world. A structural approach highlights the different organizations from private to public and/or civil society sectors, and their models of communication practice as well as the complex dynamics within various publics that shape communication within and across them. Both classical and cutting-edge models of communication prove the importance of studying different organizations’ discourses and narratives from a strategic, integrated and multilevel perspective.

This Working Group provides a dedicated platform for discussions on communication within, across, by, for and on organizations, defined broadly to refer to corporates, political parties, social and nonprofit organisations, governments etc. It invites contemplations not only from an organization-centric perspective but also from societal and cultural perspectives.
