1/ CALL FOR NEW PCR HEAD | ELECTIONS
The Participatory Communication Section of IAMCR will choose another Head in 2024. The call for candidates is now open, and the deadline to receive candidate statements is 16 April.
All paid up members registered in the Section are eligible to stand for a position and to vote.
Please take note of the key dates:
• 26 March - call for candidates launched
• 16 April - deadline to receive candidate statements
• 23 April to 14 May - voting period
• 20 May - Election results announced

The PCR Head encourages participation with the submission of applications for positions in the new coordinating team as well in the election process.
2/ IAMCR ELECTIONS | EXECUTIVE BOARD AND INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL
2024 is an election year at IAMCR. New teams are being chosen by the membership for a new mandate both at the Executive Board and the International Council.
Online voting will take place from 1 April – 15 April 2024 (23:59 UTC)

IAMCR CHRISTCHURCH 2024 | 55 PROPOSALS ACCEPTED
The theme of the Christchurch conference - WEAVING PEOPLE TOGETHER / WHIRIA TE TĀNGATA - Communicative projects of decolonising, engaging, and listening - appears to have had a particularly attractive effect on our academic community. The Participatory Communication Research Section received a high number of proposals, which is a signal of the section’s vitality, but also a source of sensitive and hard choices due to the available space at the conference venue.
The double blind peer review process resulted in the following ranked punctuation by acceptance score: 22 nominations with 5 (definitely accept); 32 with a score of 4 (probably accept); 6 with the indication of 3 (borderline).
Therefore, although many proposals presented conditions for acceptance, due to the number of slots allocated to the PCR section, through the selection process 55 proposals were accepted, including a panel. A number of submissions were transferred to a waiting list.
4/ KEY DATES TO COUNTDOWN
Preparations for the conference are now proceeding at a good pace and we would like to alert to the important key dates:
- 5 April 2024 - Deadline to apply for IAMCR awards (Climate Change, Urban Communication and Annabelle Sreberny)
- 8 April 2024 - Deadline for travel grant winners to confirm participation
- 16 April 2024 - Last day for Early bird registration
- 3 May 2024 - Award winners decisions announced
- 7 June 2024 - Deadline for full paper submission
- 30 June - 4 July - IAMCR Christchurch 2024 Conference
To allow for the management and eventual inclusion of proposals that are waiting listed the accepted submissions are being asked to confirm their presence at the conference.
5/ PRE-CONFERENCE EVENTS

6/ CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: HANDBOOK OF HEALTH COMMUNICATION IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH
The Handbook of Health Communication in the Global South by editors Thomas Tufte, Vinod Pavarala, Eliza Govender has opened a call for abstracts.
“Community voices and participatory communication for health: processes and practices” is one of the topics that might interest the PCR membership.

1/ CONVOCATORIA PARA LA NUEVA COORDINACIÓN DE LA SECCIÓN | ELECCIONES
La Sección de Investigación en Comunicación Participativa de IAMCR deberá elegir una nueva coordinación en 2024.
El equipo actual termina su encomienda de cuatro años y las elecciones serán, de acuerdo con el calendario de elecciones de IAMCR, del 23 de abril al 14 de mayo. La convocatoria a candidaturas ya abrió, y la fecha límite para enviar candidaturas es el 16 de abril.
Todas y todos los integrantes con registro vigente en la Sección son elegibles para postularse para una posición y para votar.
Las fechas clave están a continuación:
- 26 de marzo - lanzamiento de la convocatoria a candidaturas
- 16 de abril - fecha límite para recibir propuestas de candidaturas
- 23 de abril al 14 de mayo - período de votación
- 20 de mayo - anuncio de los resultados de las elecciones

El equipo coordinador de la Sección anima la participación mediante la presentación de candidaturas para las posiciones del nuevo equipo, así como en el proceso de elección.
2/ ELECCIONES IAMCR | COMITÉ EJECUTIVO Y CONSEJO INTERNACIONAL
2024 es un año de elecciones en la IAMCR. Socias y socios eligen nuevos equipos para un nuevo mandato tanto en el Comité Ejecutivo como en el Consejo Internacional.
La votación en línea tendrá lugar del 1 al 15 de abril de 2024 (23:59 UTC).

3/ IAMCR CHRISTCHURCH 2024 | 55 PROPUESTAS ACEPTADAS
El tema de la conferencia de Christchurch - WEAVING PEOPLE TOGETHER / WHIRIA TE TĀNGATA – Proyectos comunicativos de descolonización, participación y escucha – parece haber tenido un efecto especialmente atractivo en nuestra comunidad académica. La Sección de Investigación en Comunicación Participativa recibió un elevado número de propuestas, lo que es una señal de la vitalidad de la sección, pero también una fuente de decisiones delicadas y difíciles debido al espacio disponible en la sede de la conferencia.
El proceso de revisión por pares a doble ciego dio como resultado la siguiente clasificación por puntuación de aceptación: 22 propuestas con un 5 (definitivamente aceptada); 32 con una puntuación de 4 (probablemente aceptada); 6 con la indicación de 3 (límite).
Por lo tanto, aunque muchas propuestas presentaban condiciones para ser aceptadas, debido al número de plazas asignadas a nuestra Sección, a través del proceso de selección se aceptaron 55 propuestas, incluido un panel. Varias propuestas se transfirieron a una lista de espera.
4/ FECHAS CLAVE EN LA CUENTA REGRESIVA
Los preparativos de la conferencia avanzan ahora a buen ritmo y nos gustaría puntualizar algunas fechas clave:
- 5 de abril de 2024 – Fecha límite para aplicar a los IAMCR Awards (Climate Change, Urban Communication and Annabelle Sreberny)
- 8 de abril de 2024 – Fecha límite para que las y los ganadores de apoyos de viaje confirmen participación
- 16 de abril de 2024 – Último día para la inscripción temprana
- 3 de mayo de 2024 – Anuncio de ganadores de premios
- 7 de junio de 2024 – Fecha límite para subir la ponencia completa
- 30 de junio – 4 de julio de 2024 - IAMCR Christchurch 2024
Para permitir la gestión y eventual inclusión de las propuestas que están en lista de espera, se pide a las y los participantes cuya propuesta fue aceptada que confirmen su presencia en la conferencia.
5/ EVENTOS PRE-CONFERENCIA

6/ CONVOCATORIA ABSTRACTS HANDBOOK OF HEALTH COMMUNICATION
El Handbook of Health Communication in the Global South, que será editado por Thomas Tufte, Vinod Pavarala y Eliza Govender, ha abierto una convocatoria de resúmenes.
Uno de los temas que podrían interesar a las y los integrantes de esta Sección es "Voces comunitarias y comunicación participativa para la salud: procesos y prácticas".
La fecha límite para proponer resúmenes (400-500 palabras) es el 12 de mayo de 2024.
